The United Nations International Years are calendar years
which focus on particular themes. 2015 has been declared as the International
Year of Light and Light-based Technologies.
According to the UN site (2015), “One of the oldest examples of
light in art, can be seen in stained glass which dates back to the fourth
century. This form of art relies on natural light to illuminate it’s brilliance
and great detail”.
Universal creativity was demonstrated
in the stain glass installation art piece which displays natural light. The
artists came from all the grades of the International School of POS, each grade
helped paint this stained glass project.

The creation of artificial light has
made life much easier for us but the beauty of natural light still leaves us
spell bound. The installation stained glass illustrated on three panels shows
the sun rising, the noon day sun and the moon lit scene of a young girl holding
a lit deya in keeping with the festival of light, Divali theme.
It was an inspiring experience for me to watching my composition being created by a universal school effort as well as depicting a theme that will be globally depicted in educational projects throughout the calendar year of 2015.
